JAY L. EDELSTEIN
Philadelphia personal injury lawyer Jay L. Edelstein was born in 1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Washington & Jefferson College where he received his B.A. in 1976. He went onto Widener University School of Law (formerly Delaware Law School), receiving his J.D. in 1979.
Mr. Edelstein is the firm’s founder and is a successful and a well-respected third generation attorney who focuses his practice of law on the following areas: Personal injury litigation, auto injury, sexual abuse cases, slip and fall, dog bites, construction law and litigation involving common carriers. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1979 and the New Jersey Bar in 1991.
With more than 40 years of experience, Mr. Edelstein has successfully represented his clients in settlements and verdicts in excess of ten million dollars. Jay has been happily married for 31 years with three beautiful children and two lovely grandsons. He enjoys relaxing in the sun and taking long walks with his dog, Sammi. He is a lifelong avid Flyers fan and loves all Philadelphia sports teams. His ultimate wish would be to see the Flyers win the Stanley Cup. He would challenge anyone, any day to any sports trivia.

KURT J. KWAK
Kurt J. Kwak was born in 1965 in the City of Wilkes Barre, located in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He is a 1983 graduate of Bishop Hoban High School. He attended two years at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania from 1983 to 1985.
He graduated in 1987 from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Kurt graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in History, with High Distinction.
After graduating college, Kurt then attended and graduated from the Temple School of Law in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While in law school Kurt clerked for a personal injury law firm in northeastern Pennsylvania. After graduation, he became an associate attorney with the same firm and practiced there for the next sixteen years. During this time he was involved developed an expertise in the areas of workers’ compensation and social security disability laws.
Kurt also was co-counsel in other personal injury matters involving automobile accident and products liability cases. One such defective products case was in Nowak et.al v. Fabrege USA Inc. et al., 32 F. 3d 755 (3rd Cir. 1994), which resulted in a favorable jury award of 1.5 million dollars in the United States District Court for the Middle District Court of Pennsylvania and which was upheld by the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. As a result of this case, Fabrege changed its warning labels on its AquaNet hairspray cans to make the product safer for its intended use.
In late 2006, Kurt left the firm and started his own practice in Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania, continuing to represent the injured and disabled in the areas of workers’ compensation, social security disability and automobile accident cases.
During this time, he successfully argued a workers’ compensation case of first impression in Pennsylvania before the Commonwealth Court in the matter of Galizia v. WCAB (Woodloch Pines Inc.), 933 A.2d 146 (Pa. Cmwlth. Ct. 2oo7). From 2006 to 2019, Kurt remained in his own private practice in Wilkes Barre before joining Edelstein Law in March.
Kurt is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle District Court of Pennsylvania , the United States District Court of New Jersey, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Kurt is the proud father of one child, Angelo, who is currently a college student at Penn State University, Main Campus. He is an avid football fan, having played four years in college. In his spare moments, Kurt enjoys spending as much time possible with his son Angelo, especially during the summertime at the jersey shore in Wildwood Crest.
